9/10 of us have grown up with instant gratification at the forefront of everything we do. Think about it… You eat all your greens – you get dessert, you answer a question at school – you get complimented, you win a race – you get a ribbon etc….
On the surface this isn’t a problem – but when you think about it your health and fitness needs the reverse approach. You need to do things consistently over time to receive delayed gratification in the form of lasting results.
It’s no wonder most of us have trouble achieving this when most of our lives we’re tuned into doing things that give us an immediate result.
There’s a saying that goes something like “you need to decide between what you want now and what you want most.” I love it because it fits so well – do you want the instant gratification of that chocolate bar or do you want the great feeling of the 6 pack abs you’ve never had?
